Rock 50 Preview – Feb 2016

by on Feb.25, 2016, under Rock 50

Dear Everyone,

A belated Happy New Year to you all. Our radio show airs on Saturday, February 27, the first show of 2016. After such sad news over December 2015 and early January 2016, we at Rock 50 will be playing some commemorative music to rejoice and honor the lives of Lemmy Kilmister and David Bowie. In December 2015, we had planned that Phil “Philthy” Taylor, longtime drummer with Motorhead, would be our featured drummer for our drum segue – it’s going to rock, check us out. We also pay our deepest respects to the families and fans of Glenn Frey, Natalie Cole, Jimmy Bain and Maurice White. RIP. Their music will live on forever.

Stay strong,
Bill

November Rock 50 Preview

by on Nov.17, 2015, under Rock 50

H! Everyone,

Our Rock 50 show airs on November 21st, 2015.  In keeping with November 11th, Veterans and Armistice Day, our show will be in two parts, starting at 11 AM Pacific, the first hour will be Metal wall to wall.  Our second hour, around noon time, will be songs to honor the fallen of all wars since 1914 and the Armistice of November 11th, 1918.  We say thank you to the men and women who have served and survived.   We will remember the homeland suffering, as well as the bitter loss that war is.  We hope to bring an honorable and reflective mood to our last hour, and if you like hard-core Metal we’ll pound you in our first hour.  No drum segue this month or on our Christmas show.  Drum segues come back on our January 2016 show.

Stay safe.  Stay strong.

–Bill

Absence of Corners

by on Aug.17, 2015, under Rock 50

A message for all those nice people who attended the Sunday show at Fathom Gallery in LA.   I know I met quite a few of you, but I am saddened and have to say I’m sorry I didn’t meet all of you.  Normally, I like to shake hands with everyone who attends.  On Sunday, this handshake and hugs ritual didn’t fully transpire, and I regret that.  I hope all of you had a good time, and I appreciate that you came to visit the art pieces and participate in the emotions that flowed between us.  For those of you I didn’t say goodbye to, I’ll say it now – goodbye my friends, I wish you happiness and positive energy in your lives.  Stay safe and strong.  To my longtime friends who I also didn’t get to meet, I love you.  And to all, perhaps we’ll meet again.  Be good to yourselves.

Rock forever,
Bill Ward

May Rock 50 Preview

by on Apr.27, 2015, under Rock 50

H! Everyone,

Our radio show airs on Saturday, May 2, 2015.  It’ s my birthday show, which means I’m playing all my favorite metal bands. That means Slipknot, Type O Negative, anything with Gene Hoglan; playing Philm featuring Dave Lombardo.  The show will be jammed with good stuff, and because it’s my birthday on May 5th, for the first time, the drum segue will feature me playing drums.  Live Sabbath, and some my favorite Sabbath.  It’ll be cool.

If you like Metal, Hard Rock, or just good music, period, I hope you can check us out.

Stay safe and extra strong.
