Rock 50 Sep 11th Preview
by Joe on Aug.30, 2010, under Rock 50
H! Everyone,
Our Rock 50 hardcore radio show airs on 9/11/10. In keeping with the day, we will dedicate the second hour of the show to 9/11, with such artists at The Who, Elbow, Annie Lennox, Pavarotti, Pink Floyd and many more.
Our first hour will be all hardcore metal which is the norm for our show. We’ll be playing new stuff, as well as Mastodon, In Flames and Slayer.
We will NOT feature our segment “Great Hard Rock and Metal Bands and Artists” this month. Also, because of the way we program our Halloween, Armistice and Christmas shows, I may suspend the “Great Hard Rock and Metal Bands and Artists” segment until January 2011.
OK. That¹s it for now. Check us out.
Stay strong. Stay safe.

Win Free Copies of When the Bough Breaks
by Joe on Jun.11, 2010, under Bill Ward
To celebrate the launch of Bill’s new Twitter feed and his new Facebook fan page, we’ve decided to give away some autographed copies of Bill’s 1997 album, “When the Bough Breaks”. This is a pretty simple contest, all you have to do is either be following Bill on Twitter, or have “liked” his Facebook page.
We will pick five random folks from each service, and they will win the autographed CD. We will contact you on those services for details afterwards. Additionally, Bill will personalize the autographs to you, so it won’t be just him signing his name.
To make sure you’re eligible, sign up for these services and like/follow Bill. If you want to double your chances, hook up with both of them! Please note you can’t win on both services, so if for some reason you’d get randomly picked on both, you’d only win one. 🙂 The contest will run for one week, and will close next week June 18th.
Here are the details in case you need them:

Bill talks about early days of Black Sabbath
by Joe on Jun.09, 2010, under Black Sabbath
Bill recently spoke to the New York Daily News regarding the early days in Black Sabbath. Check out a few samples of what Bill had to say:
Forty years later, I remember very well when [guitarist] Tony Iommi, [singer] Ozzy Osbourne, [bassist] Geezer Butler and I first arrived in the United States. We were on a TWA jet and we flew to New York at night. I will always remember seeing the Manhattan skyline and I was absolutely in awe.
I knew that we were into something different, and I really loved what we were into, the sound and the religious and political imagery, but I didn’t speculate much about it at the time. I just thought, “Wow, whatever this is, I love it, I want to be into it for the rest of my life.” We came up with an aggressive message. It wasn’t necessarily a new message, but it was a new aggressive message.
Quite honestly, I thought I would be dead by 25. You can’t even imagine being 62, which is what I am now. Sadly, those days have been over for us for a long, long time. And so, the best I can do after a gig is usually get in my bus and try to have a sandwich or a cup of tea. That’s pretty much the heaviest partying I do now.

by Joe on May.31, 2010, under Bill Ward
There’s two things you as a fan of this website should know. First are some new photos of Bill in the studio over the last couple of years. Some are from behind a kit, and some are behind a board. Here’s a few samples..
These two photos (and all of them in the newly released gallery) were taken by Christopher Wagner. You can see all of them over at our new Facebook page. That’s right, Bill is now on Facebook. If you are too, and want to check out the photo gallery, or “like” Bill, the Facebook link is this:
